This informal group meets in a video-free private chat and image-sharing forum with a librarian from the Free Library's Art Department to discuss and be inspired by the different ways artists have used water-based paints like watercolor and its close relative, gouache. Join us if you are an art enthusiast who enjoys looking at paintings, an artist or instructor seeking new ideas, to get some art-making prompts for working independently and a place to share images of the resulting work with others.

We'll start by looking at examples of artwork in Watercolor: Paintings of Contemporary Artists by Leslie Dutcher and beyond and try some prompts on our own time from Portfolio - Tips and Techniques for Learning to Paint in Watercolor by Maury Aaseng. Both e-books and many more on watercolor art and techniques are available to all Free Library card holders through Hoopla. Many more print books and e-books that reproduce watercolor paintings by artists working in that medium as well as books that offer instruction for painting at home are available from the library, you can start with this growing list and go from there.

New club members can always join the non-sequential meetings any time: Wednesdays in April, May and June 2021 from 5:00 - 6:00pm.

Please complete this registration form to receive an email invitation to our Slack meeting space.
